Built on the foundations of the former hosiery trade,
Poron factories Absorba, the Mercure hotel of Troyes is
situated in the town centre, just a step from the district
Saint- Jean, where were held, in the Middle-Ages, the
famous Fairs of Champagne. |

Its
construction by the architect Bernard Gelin, who, together
with the architect of the Buildings of France, had for
mission to make relive this former site of hosiery trade. It
was thus necessary respect the factory such as it existed
previously.
Both guard's houses in bricks (today in the entrance of the
hotel) were able to be kept, and the facade, built
originally wooden, was gone back up(raised) to the identical.
The loom situated in the hall of the hotel, the photos
arranged in the corridors of rooms, make of the hosiery
trade, the subject held for this hotel. |
